This office sees primary Chinese patients; thus, applicants must be fluent in Mandarin Chinese, along with English.
As an ophthalmology technician, you would assist the ophthalmologist during an eye examination.
You will be responsible for working up the patient, which includes asking for a brief history and checking vision, pupils, and pressure. You will also be responsible for obtaining auto-refractions, OCT images, biometry measurements (IOL Master), and visual fields.
The abilities to use an electronic medical record system (Modernizing Medicine), to applanate to check pressure, and to perform an accurate refraction are not necessary but are skills that would be appreciated and compensated for in the hourly rate.
The practice is looking for someone who is willing to learn and stay long term.
